There’s nothing I love more (well… maybe cake and Beyonce) than staring at it in an extremely magnified mirror obsessing over skin blemishes and the size of my pores. I’m like a the wicked witch from Snow White, but without the pretty stepdaughter issues.

I buy scrubs, masks and those nose strips, but I have to be really careful, because my skin is quite sensitive. I have also never actually been to a proper sauna/spa, partly because I’m cheap and they seem really expensive, and secondly, because films tell me people are naked a lot, and I’m too “British” for that sort of malarky.

So when Lidl offered to send me it’s new Ionic Facial Sauna to try out, I jumped at the chance, because there’s no better feeling than skin that’s come out of a steamy shower right?

Facts you need to know about the facial sauna

Before I tell you what I think, here’s what you need to know. This is part of Lidl’s Best Buy range, which means when it is in stock, it sells out really quickly. It will be in stores nationwide from Monday 29th February (perfect time for mother’s day), and costs £24.99.

Now this is Lidl’s own brand version, but after a little Googling, couldn’t help but find either the same (or incredibly similar version for £59.00 (more than double the price). It’s Beurer one from Currentbody.com (take a look, it’s the same right?!). You don’t even get free delivery on it, because it’s £59.99 and you need to spend £60. I hate it when online stores do that!

What it does

It’s a facial steamer that increases blood circulation and leaves your skin looking fresh and youthful. There’s a nozzle on it which you can adjust to direct towards your nose, neck or chest. It’s really good not only for your skin, but if you have a cold or sinus problems, it can really help too.

What I thought

I really like it. I have it next to my bed, and when I’m watching a bit of tv before going to sleep, I adjust the nozzle to move the steam around my face and neck which I find really relaxing.

When I first got it in the post, I thought the box made it look really old fashioned, but when I opened it up, I was nicely surprised. It looks like something from Apple. It’s sleek, white and a quality looking item.

If you fill it up fully, you have about 15 minutes worth of steam. My skin definitely looks brighter and cleaner. It’s also not too hot – it’s a really nice temperate. I think £25 is a pretty decent price as it does the job well, and looks a lot more expensive.
