Cheap Fitbit guide – Incl cheap activity tracker alternatives

The UK has gone Fitbit mad, with thousands of people donning the rubber fitness trackers to make sure they get their 10,000 steps in. This is how popular they are, exercise hating Lotty here, forked out £90 for one last year (although since becoming self employed, I ain’t getting anywhere near that number at the moment).

I love my Fitbit, plus think it’s cheaper than going to the gym. It goes give you a kick up the bum if you’ve hardly done any steps and I like the competitive aspect of it if you get involved with its online site.

And the customer service is amazing too. Last year I lost my Fitbit after drinking too many shandies, so gave them an email explaining the situation and provided them with proof of purchase and they happily sent me a brand new one in the post the next day!

How to get a cheap Fitbit

Yeah, I think they are worth the money (though I have listed cheaper alternatives below). That said, you can get a bargain. Sure, not a massive one, but there are deals to be done!

  • Buy your Fitbit via Zeek. I love Zeek and use it for pretty much every big purchase. If someone has a gift card and they don’t want to use it, they sell it on Zeek at a discount. Right now there’s 3% off at Argos, 6% off Currys/PC Workd and 8% off House of Fraser – which all sell Fitbits.
  • Get cashback. For the ultimate discount, you should combine a Zeek discount with cashback. Sign up to Quidco for example and you’ll currently get 8% off Argos and 5% off at Currys PC World
  • If you want to buy one around November, wait for Black Friday (which is Nov 27th) or Cyber Monday (the Monday after Black Friday) to pick up reduced Fitbits. I’d especially keep an eye out at Amazon.

Fitbit Flex

So when it comes to the Flex, there’s the original one and the newer Fitbit Flex 2. What I have come to notice is that not only the original Flex is it a little bit harder to get your hands on but its really not that much cheaper – so wouldn’t bother with it.

The flex is the most basic of the Fitbits, and therefore the cheapest (although check out below for cheaper activity trackers). The Flex doesn’t have a screen as such, rather than five little LED lights which indicate the amount of steps taken.

Fitbit Flex 2 – £69.90 – Amazon

Fitbit flex 2 – £69.99 – Argos

Fitbit Flex 2 – £50 in-store at some Sainsbury’s (was £80)

Fitbit Alta

Cheap Fitbit Guide

The Fitbit Alta is the cheapest Fitbit with a screen (and I think the prettiest of them). Not only does it track your steps, distance, calories burned and actives minutes – but also how long and well you have slept that night.

Fitbit Alta – £79.99 – £158.82 – Amazon

Fitbit Alta – £79.99 (save £10) – Argos

Fitbit Alta – £70 in-store at Sainsburys

Fitbit charge

cheap fitbit guide

Most Fitbit users have a Fitbit Charge, Fitbit Charge HR or Fitbit Charge 2. It does what all of the others do, such as steps and sleep tracking – but with heart rate monitoring too if you’re someone a little bit more into Fitness.

Fitbit Charge – £85.99 – £148 – Amazon

Fitbit Charge 2 – £99.99 – £240.81 – Amazon

Fitbit Charge 2 – £89.99 with the code FIT10 at Currys.

Fitbit Charge 2 – £119.99 – Argos

Fitbit Charge HR £59.99 –  Cleverboxes (orange) and in pink

Fitbit Charge HR 2 – £90 (was £120) in-store at some Sanisburys stores

Fitbit Charge HD – £65 (was £82) in-store at some Stainsburys stores

Fitbit Blaze

Cheap Fitbit Guide

The Fitbit Blaze is the fanicest and therefore most expensive of the Fitbit family.

It’s more than a fitness trackers – its a smartwatch. The difference here is it has multi-sport tracking, to track runs, cardio, cross-training, biking and more. It also has a continuous heart rate monitor.

Fitbit Blaze Smart Fitness Watch – £135.99 – £207.98 – Amazon

Fitbit Blaze – £139.99 – Argos

Misfit Ray

Misfit Ray from £79.99 at Currys/PC World

Misfit Ray £79.99 at Amazon

Cheap Fitbit Guide

I think the Ray is the most beautiful of the trackers – especially the Rose Gold. It not only tracks steps, but also swimming distances.

The Ray connects to your phone to offer vibrating and light-up LED alerts, plus its removable battery will last up to six months.

Hmmmm… I think if I didn’t already have a Fitbit, I’d get this.

Jawbone UP3

£39.44 (was £129.99) in seven colours – Amazon

Cheap Fitbit Guide

The Jawbone is probably Fitbit’s biggest competitor.

Not only does the Jawbone track your steps, but it does more than the Fitbit if you’re interested in sleep tracking. It tracks lights, deep and REM sleep as well as measure heart health too.

Withings Go

Cheap Fitbit Guide

This is super cheap, fun and colour and also has a screen!

It lets you quickly see your activity progress thanks to the tracking of steps, distance, calories and more displayed on the low power E Ink display and comes in a load of different bright colours.

If you’re looking for something simple, there’s really no need to spend a lot more than this.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2

£27.99 (was £49.99) at Amazon

£18.84 at Bang Good

Cheap Fitbit Guide

The cheapest tracker I could find, and despite the super low price, the Mi Band 2 features step tracking, a super clear low-power OLED display, dedicated button control and even heart rate tracking – which is pretty amazing for £18!

The wearable automatically knows when activity has started and will vibrate to get the wearer moving if too stagnant.
